In terms of character and/or ethics the book that have resonated the most with me or had a grave impact on my life would be, Discover Your True North, by William George.

My dissertation is on leading a multigenerational workplace using “Authentic Leadership” characteristics.  After intense research, I came across Bill George, father of “Authentic leadership,” which cemented by empirical research and personal beliefs, that today’s organizations need an “Authentic Leader” to lead a multi-generational workforce.

The book also discussed how… “To become an authentic leader you have to discover your True North and stay on its course throughout your life. As you do so, you will be prepared to lead in this new era. A fulfilled life is not just about your self-interest, but serving those around you and taking on challenges to make this world a better place (George, 2015).”

Bill George, is senior fellow at Harvard Business School, where he has taught leadership since 2004. He is the author of four best-selling books: 7 Lessons for Leading in Crisis, True North, Finding Your True North, and Authentic Leadership, as well True North Groups. His newest book, Discover Your True North, was published in August of 2015 along with its companion workbook, The Discover Your True North Field book.
